Enjoy Daegu City With Culture And Art
Daegu, geographically located in south-eastern Korea, is also hub of culture and arts. Rather it won’t be wrong to call Daegu as ‘Cultural and Artistic City’. It is home of Daegu Art Museum, Daegu Art Factory, Art and Cultural Centre, one of the biggest traditional markets in Korea and also famous Kim Kwang-suk Road. No matter what part of the year you are visiting Daegu, you can always find performances, exhibitions, plays and cultural events happening around the city.
1) Daegu Art Museum - DAM
Let’s take our first trip to “Daegu Art Museum”. Daegu Art Museum, also called as DAM, started its operations in May, 2011 and since then it has been a major touristic attraction in Daegu.
It’s a 3 floor magnificent structure building with 7 galleries offering all with modern facilities. Since its inauguration, DAM has been hosting lots of artistic and cultural events promoting art works of both local and international artists.
Every month you can find unique exhibitions at DAM, among the past exhibitions, one of the most famous one was DNA(Design and Art) where artworks of 30 different artists were displayed.

Get off at Daegu Grand Park Station on subway line #2. Come out at Exit No.5 and take the shuttle bus to Daegu Art Museum running twice an hour.
2) Kim Kwang-suk RoadLet’s head towards one of the most popular spot in Daegu ‘Kim Kwang-suk Road’, a mural street that symbolizes Korea’s youth and music.
This street is dedicated to the memories of late singer, Kim Kwang-suk, who although lived a short life but his music and poetic lines are still cherished by almost all the Koreans. Walking down the street you can find that the street is full of his songs’ lyrics and pictures on walls.
Upon entrance of the street you can also find Kim Kwang-suk Road’s sculpture while playing guitar where you can’t resist taking pictures. This street has lots of coffee shops and delicious food courts too so this place is really famous among couples.

3) Daegu Yangnyeongsi Herbal Medicine MarketWell, since music is a food of soul and Kim Kwang-suk Road is the best way to feel relaxed and reduce stress. But if you are still looking to heal your body and soul, Daegu has yet another thing to offer ‘Herbal Medicine Market’. :)
Daegu is home for one of the oldest herbal medicine markets in South Korea, known as Yangnyeongsi. This market has its international importance since 350 years and still every year Daegu hosts Korea’s biggest herbal medicine cultural festival.
The Yangnyeongsi Herbal Medicine Street is around 700 meter long street where you can find 24 clinics, 76 wholesalers of ingredients, 20 ginseng stores, and 150 medicine brewery shops.
